English Language Support

Children attend St. Teresa’s from countries all around the globe, speaking in the region of 30 different languages among them.

Many of our children who come from families that do not speak English are in fact proficient in two or more other languages.  Those who do not speak English regularly at home, work extremely hard and achieve relatively better than the national averages for all children, making outstanding progress.

We place a lot of emphasis on understanding the cultures in our wider community, and have worked hard to identify the needs of children with little or no English language, and their families at a very young age.

We have Tamil, Tagalog and Polish speakers within the Governing body and staff team who are always ready to help out parents and their families if there is a communication issue caused by language barriers.
