Approaches to Learning

St Teresa's School recognises that children can show achievement in a variety of ways. The NED mantra Never give up, Encourage others and Do your best guides children towards a positive relationship with learning.

We regularly provide opportunities for children to be reflective in their learning through special ‘Building Learning Power’ themed weeks in which we encourage children to maintain a ‘Growth Mindset’.

We track children through the Early Years, Key Stage 1 and lower and upper Key Stage 2 by looking at their learning at the start of each phase and emphasizing progress across the phase.  The Government currently measure outcomes at the end of Reception against 17 key areas as well as attainment and progress in Reading, Writing and Maths at the end of Year 2 and the end of Year 6.  Phonics is measured at the end of Year 1.

Children leave us at the end of Year 6 with consistently strong achievement compared to local and national averages.
